In 1936, William (Bill) Loewen began repairing and selling pianos to augment a bicycle repair business that slowed considerably during the long cold winter months in Winnipeg. Mr. Loewen's growing passion for pianos convinced him to concentrate all his efforts towards developing a piano business. For a time, he had two locations on William Avenue: one for bicycles and the other for pianos, then early in 1961 he moved to a new location at 1330 Portage Avenue. In 1965, Bill Loewen moved his family to British Columbia, and opened a piano store on Broadway in Vancouver. (The store was eventually relocated to Terminal Avenue in the 90's.)In 2004, a new branch was opened in Richmond, to reflect the continued growth of the company. In 2007, the Terminal store moved to its current location at 2106 Main Street in Vancouver. |
